Welcome
We
welcome you as a seller to the Glenn School Clothing Sale! Please read
these guidelines carefully— they have CHANGED and contain information about how to prepare your items to sell. It is always disappointing to have items remaining at the end of the sale due to lost
or unsecured tags. Some items also remain unsold due to poor or misleading packaging
that did not allow the buyers to see what was truly being offered.

General Annoucements
Fall & Winter Clothing Only:
For this sale we will sell only Fall
& Winter clothing for girls and boys (in sizes from infant to 14), children’s shoes (sizes infant to 5, only
specialty shoes are accepted in sizes over 5), accessories, baby equipment, toys, books, DVDs (please, no copies, NO PG-13
movies!) and games (board games to computer/video games—non-violent only!). We will continue to include sports
uniforms, scouting uniforms, costumes/dress-up, and swimming suits and will highlight this information for our buyers.
100% Barcode Tags:
We
are officially a 100% BAR CODE sale. Manual tags will no longer be accepted. Since, the Spring of 2007 we
have partnered with MyConsignmentManager(MCM) to modernize our point of sale system. MCM developed bar-coding
their services with the Seller's needs as a priority. We believe you will find their website simple and easy
to use.
No
longer accepting Maternity Clothes:
Please also note that as of Spring 2010 we will no longer accept
maternity clothing items. Maternity clothes do not sell well and take up a lot of space on the racks.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) recently
clarified its regulation of the sale of children’s products recommended for children age 12 and under. Under these new guidelines, “Sellers of used children’s products, such as thrift stores and
consignment stores, are not required to certify that those products meet the new lead limits, phthalates standard or new toy
standards.” However, please be advised it will be your (the consignor’s)
responsibility to ensure that all items tagged for sale in the Glenn Clothing Sale comply with the CPSC regulations regarding
lead content and recalled items. All consignors should check the CPSC website
(www.cpsc.gov) for information before submitting items for sale to ensure that items
offered for sale comply with the new law. Items not in compliance may be turned
away at check-in or pulled from the sale at the discretion of the Glenn Clothing Sale volunteers.
Specific Instructions

Opens at 9:00am
Fall Sale
dates will be September 24th & 25th, 2010
Please see Seller Registration for further details...
Seller Instructions for Clothing
Select items carefully! All clothing and shoes must be clean and in excellent condition to be included in the sale. Clothing and shoes offered for sale should be current. “Vintage”
items are often considered to be dated by the purchasers and do not sell.
All clothing items acceptable to sell must be labeled with numeric sizes.
We do not allow S, M, L, or XL to be used as size criteria.
BAR CODE
TAGS
Follow
instructions at www.myconsignmentmanager.com/glennsale for tagging our items. If you have any questions about the system please
contact support@myconsignmentmanager.com. Sellers must have all of their INVENTORY in the system by 10:00pm
Sunday, September 19, 2010.
Bar
code tags should only be printed on white paper.
Smeared tags will not scan.
Also, please ensure the correct font/boldness of ink. (too bold leads to smearing...)
Layette and accessories (caps,
booties, blankets, tights, hair bows, etc.) do not need to be hung. We have boxes
provided for these types of items near the stage on the second floor. Please place these items in plastic ziplock bags and
tape the opening.
Items
tagged or hung incorrectly will have to be fixed by you, the seller, before they
can be hung!!
Your clothes on the hanger should
look like the picture below. If your hanger is facing the other way or your
tag is on the other side...STOP— you will need to change them. Your hanger MUST
be facing to the LEFT with the TAG at the TOP RIGHT of your garment. Please see the image at the bottom of this page for clarification.

Will your clothes pass the “sniff test?” Clothes with a strong musty, mothball, or smoky odor cannot be accepted.
Secure the tag to each clothing
item with a safety pin. Do not use straight pins or the very small safety
pins, they do not hold the tags on the items.
Items
that have lost their tags cannot be sold.
You must pin the tag on the front of and on
the right – as you face the garment.
Do not bring out-of-season clothes, sports equipment for Spring or Summer, or other items
not usually associated with Fall & Winter.
Seller Instructions for Other Items:
Shoes:
Put pairs of small shoes into plastic freezer bags.
Tape the bag closed. If the shoes are too large for plastic bags, use
2 bags or bind them together with zip ties. Simply tying the laces together is
not secure enough for the number of buyers handling them. (Note: Suede shoes
are permanently damaged by most tapes. Put all suede shoes in bags.) Zip tying shoes together by their tabs or shoestring holes keeps the pair together during rough handling but also
allows the buyer to access size and fit.
Toys:
Toys, games and puzzles must be complete. Double-check that all game pieces/parts are included before sealing the box. Boxes should be taped shut. Many small pieces can be taped
shut in freezer-strength bags that keep them securely together. For items that
cannot be bagged, use heavy-duty tape to keep parts together. Again make sure that all parts are included. Buyers let us know when
a game or toy is incomplete or does not work; don’t let that complaint be about your item! If several complaints are
made regarding incomplete items you have sold, you risk losing your right to sell at our sale.
Strollers:
Do not tape strollers shut. Buyers like
to open and close them when deciding what to purchase.
Books and DVDs:
For books and DVDs, use removable labels so items are not damaged when the tag is
removed by the purchaser. Be prepared to sort your own books into the boxes organized by book category (e.g., chapter books, first
readers). Some sellers find it helpful to presort the books into plastic bags
so placing them in the Glenn boxes is fast and easy. As of Spring
2010, we will no longer be accepting VHS tapes or cassette tapes. We will not sell PG-13 rated or R rated movies!
The complete list of book and video categories follows on the FAQs page.
Car Seats:
Infant/toddler car seats do not sell unless they
are in superb condition. We suggest they be less than four years old and
very clean. Booster seats are always in demand.
They should also be less than four years old. No car seat brought into the sale should have been involved in any accident, even fender-benders. We are not responsible for recalled items.
Seasoned Seller Tips!
Past sellers find grouping items by size (at home) is an efficient way to hang them
quickly during the drop-off process.
Be fair and reasonable when you price items. Ask yourself,
“Would I buy this item in this condition for this price?”
Save your trunk space!
The Glenn Sale does not accept the following items to sell: stuffed animals, encyclopedias, pacifiers (even
new), teething rings (even new), war toys, weapons, violent games/ movies/books, VHS tapes or cassette tapes, PG-13 or
R rated movies.

Sale Drop-Off:
Appointments
are needed to drop off items. Appointments are made during the online registration process. Prior to drop-off,
all of your items must be priced, tagged, and hung correctly. Plan to allow
at least 45 minutes to 1 hour to check-in and to finish hanging your items.
Please remember that drop-off ends at 11:45 am and 7:45 p.m. respectively. We adhere strictly to
these hours, as our volunteers need to leave to pick up their children.
Every seller
must check-in by code at the desk. Glenn Sale staff will be located at the front entrance to assist you.
Toys, strollers, furniture, exersaucers, and other large items are dropped off downstairs, and the sale
staff are responsible for organizing them. Clothing, books, shoes,
and infant items are dropped off upstairs. You,
the seller, are responsible for hanging and sorting all of your items for sale upstairs. Anything dropped off and not hung will not be available for sale.
Quality Control
Please look carefully at your
items before bringing them in to sell. Stained, soiled, distressed, and/or malodorous garmets (e.g.
strong musty, mothball, or smoky odor) will not be sold.
We
perform an initial quality control check of your hanging items at the time of drop-off.
Items that do not meet our quality control standards will be marked with a red X
on the tag and will be pulled from the rack as they are not acceptable
for sale. These items will be returned seller immediately.
As we prepare
to welcome buyers, secondary quality checks of clothing are performed and additional soiled items or items not passing
the sniff test may be pulled from the racks. Items pulled as out-of-season or not
meeting our quality standards will not be sorted back to the seller codes after the sale.
Any unclaimed red X items will be donated to charity.
If you are selling large items, please try to bring them on Monday. We
will accept large items on Tuesday only as our space permits.
The Glenn Sale will use
reasonable efforts to maintain all consignment items and return unsold items. We
will not be responsible for any lost, stolen, or unaccounted items. No returns or refunds will be allowed.
Preview Night:
To show our appreciation to our
sellers, we host a Preview Night for those sellers who deliver items that we think are in excess of $50.00. You, as the registered seller,
are the only person to be admitted for Preview Night (please, no children may accompany you). We will check photo IDs at the door—please help us maintain the integrity of Preview Night! Our doors
will open at 6:00 p.m. Please be courteous to those sellers/donors who have waited in line by not saving places.
Glenn
Sale Pick-Up
Starting in Fall 2010 all checks
will be mailed out to you within 2 weeks of the end of the sale. We no longer distribute checks at pick-up! Any items not picked up by 8:00 p.m. Wednesday
night will be donated to charity (unless prior arrangements have been made.)
Charity receipts for donations
are available at drop-off and pick-up. Please ask if you need one.
Glenn accepts one-third of the
price of items sold as commission for hosting the sale. The minimum price for
all items is $0.50. We collect a $10.00 security fee upfront at the time
of registration via PayPal. The Glenn Clothing Sale is run solely by Glenn School staff and
parent volunteers. Proceeds from the sale support the Glenn School for Young
Children at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.
We thank Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church and its
staff for their efforts on behalf of the sale. We also thank the many people
who donate their time, effort, and goods to make the Glenn Sale a continued success.
